Stocking Stuffers – An Old Tradition Made Foot-Friendly

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicolas soon would be there.

Christmas stocking

The poem in which these lines can be found was published under an anonymous byline in the Troy, New York Sentinel on December, 23 1823. The poem was called “A Visit from St. Nicolas.” At the time that it was written the practice of hanging socks by the fireplace was a tradition unknown to most of the American public, practiced mostly by recent Dutch immigrants. Because of its uniquely fanciful take on the legend of Father Christmas, the poem that would still be popular over one hundred years later as “Twas the Night Before Christmas” became an immediate success and within a few decades the tradition of hanging stockings had become cemented in the American consciousness as an integral part of the magic of holiday season.

Is the hanging of Christmas stockings a part of your holiday tradition? This holiday season why not make it a foot-friendly holiday by slipping a few foot pampering presents into his or her stocking. Here are some of our favorites:

1.The Foot Wheel

With shopping, baking, and traveling to be near family, even the jolliest holiday is likely to involve a significant amount of time spent on one’s feet. Sore tootsies are no way to ring in the New Year, but with the Foot Wheel, a doctor-developed, podiatrist approved foot massager, tired and achy feet can instantly become a thing of the past. Using principles from trigger point therapy, the Foot Wheel is able to strategically stretch and oxygenate tense and over-worked foot muscles. The Foot Wheel makes a great gift for athletes, particularly serious runners. The Foot Wheel was originally developed to provide medical quality foot pain relief and is frequently recommended by podiatrists for treatment of plantar faciitis.

2.Old Friend Sheepskin Insoles

Old Friend Sheepskin Insoles make great stocking stuffers or small gifts for anyone on your list. (Except perhaps your children or grandchildren who are deeply suspicious of any apparel or accessory that doesn’t involve a cartoon character.) Sheepskin insoles can make any shoe instantly soft and comfortable. Want to know what it’s like to walk on a cloud? Well, this is probably the closest you’ll get in this lifetime. In the winter Old Friend sheepskin insoles will keep feet warm by trapping heat and absorbing any excess moisture. In the summer they’ll keep feet cool by moving heat away from the skin once the interior of the shoe has reached body temperature. Old Friend insoles also have a layer of charcoal beneath the sheepskin which acts as a natural deodorizer.

3.The Heeler

Does one of your loved one have rough and callused feet? The Heeler, dubbed as “the flexible solution for calluses” makes an excellent stocking stuffer for those who would like to have smooth and healthy feet, but simply don’t have the time, the energy, or both to fiddle with a pumice stone. Exfoliating the feet can feel like a chore for anybody; but may be particularly difficult for those with a limited range of motion due to arthritis or other joint stiffness. The Heeler is a fast, ergonomic, and efficient method for removing dead skin from the heels and the balls of the feet. No body contortion necessary; use it in a sitting position; on dry or wet skin; on the porch or in the shower.

4.Tea Tree Oil Anti-Fungal Soap

Treat foot odor, fungus, bug bites, and skin irritation the natural way with tea tree oil cleansing foot wash. Developed and approved by podiatrists, this soap provides medical strength skin therapy, but also has a fresh, clean herbal scent making it a pleasure to lather over feet. This is a wonderful gift for parents whose children spend a lot of time outdoors. Giving mom and dad a method of preemptively killing athlete’s foot and other foot fungus before it spreads to the rest of the family is a very thoughtful gift indeed. It also makes a good gift for camping and hiking enthusiasts by letting them know you care about whether or not their feet stay healthy enough for to keep up with their favorite hobby.

5.“On Your Toes” Foot Odor Powder

Admittedly, this is an unabashedly practical stocking stuffer; however, after receiving multiple rave reviews from HealthyFeetStore.com customers, we here at HealthyFeetStore.com Blog would feel remiss in leaving it off the list. Pour a bit of “On Your Toes” Odor Eliminator Powder into even the most redolent pair of athletic shoes and be amazed at the results. What makes this foot powder more effective than all the others? It does more than just conceal foot odor. The anti-bacterial micro-particles in the powder sink into the pores of the shoes killing the bacteria from which the odor originated and preventing further bacterial growth for several months. Like the Foot Wheel, this is an excellent stocking stuffer for athletes and those who love their feet.

Happy stocking stuffing, happy holiday shopping, and just remember: it’s Christmas for feet too, so give them the love and appreciation they deserve this holiday season!
